OpenWallet Foundation:

The OpenWallet Foundation is excited to announce that Italy, Ireland, and Brazil have decided to join our Governmental Advisory Council. 🥳

Hedera has joined as our newest member. 🥳

We're hard at work to make OpenWallet an even more robust multi-stakeholder endeavor. Stay tuned for updates!

RISE:

RISE is gearing up for its 1st anniversary on May 31. While we have a few exciting things in the pipeline, most of our energy remains focused on the technical work that supports and enables the RISC-V software ecosystem.

In this regard, we want to extend our congratulations to RISC-V International for the publication of their excellent Software Ecosystem Dashboard, which perfectly complements RISE's own publication of the RISC-V Software Optimization Guide, which has received very positive feedback. Additionally, as of early April, there are three new RFPs in process, bringing the total number of paid workstreams through RFPs under the RISE TSC to eight.
Many events are on the way. The RISE TSC is planning a deep technical update at RISC-V Summit Europe in Munich on June 24-28, where RISE is a Bronze sponsor and is also providing the lounge space. Prior to RISC-V Summit Europe, we presented this month on the RISC-V software ecosystem at Open Source Summit North America in Seattle on April 15, at the co-located program Open Hardware & Software: Accelerating Beyond Moore’s Law and Enabling the Next Wave of Innovation. Additionally, we must mention RISC-V Con events, sponsored by RISE founding member Andes Corporation, taking place in China, Japan, and California in Q2.

We hope to see you at one of these events, as well as upstream in the projects where we contribute. If your company is interested in joining RISE, please let us know at info@riseproject.dev

Servo:

April has been a month of significant progress for Servo. We've continued our stride forward with improvements in CSS, tables, fonts, and ElementInternals. Some highlights include:

  • Support for ex units
  • Merging of the initial multiple webviews patch
  • Update of Stylo to March 2024

Additionally, substantial work has been dedicated to the layout engine, resulting in Servo surpassing legacy layout in WPT.

We're proud to announce the publication of a report on Servo’s integration with SpiderMonkey, along with our proposal to enhance its modularity.

Excitingly, Servo garnered attention at KDAB, where discussions revolved around embedding Servo in Qt. Moreover, at OSS North America in Seattle, Rakhi Sharma delivered a talk on Servo's progress after a year of dedicated work.

Looking ahead, Servo contributors will be actively participating in upcoming events. GOSIM will feature talks from Servo TSC members Gregory Terzian and Nico Burns (who has recently joined the TSC). Additionally, Rakhi, Nico, and Gregory will attend RustNL, although there won’t be any Servo talks scheduled.
