Driving Open Finance Innovation at the Milan Roadshow
Linux Foundation Europe | 20 May 2025
The Linux Foundation Europe Roadshow arrives in Milan on July 8, 2025, featuring a dedicated Finance Impact Track focusing on open source innovation in the finance sector and a Business Track focusing on boarder European collaboration that bring together diverse stakeholders together. This one-day event unites policymakers, developers, academics, and industry leaders in grassroots discussions on Europe's open source future. The cross-industry format highlights how regulated sectors—particularly finance—are leveraging open technologies to drive innovation, strengthen security, and enhance transparency.
Uniting Diverse Stakeholders
Whether you're crafting code, shaping policy, managing financial systems, or developing tomorrow's technologies, the Milan Roadshow offers a rare forum to engage directly with experts at the intersection of open source and finance. In partnership with the Fintech Open Source Foundation (FINOS), and with the support of the main sponsor ReeVo, this event elevates Europe's open finance community, bringing the open source finance conversation to continental Europe. The interactive format creates space for executives, engineers, and regulators to tackle critical issues including interoperability, AI governance, cloud compliance, and cross-industry security.
Transforming Finance Through Open Collaboration
Open source development is revolutionizing digital finance. Take the newly formed OpenWallet Foundation, which is developing open-source engines for interoperable digital wallets supporting payments, identity verification, and credential storage—what they describe as "critical infrastructure for payments, for identity, and for a secure future." The Milan Roadshow will showcase how such collaborative projects are building more trusted, innovative fintech solutions.
The Finance Impact Track will explore everything from cutting-edge open source innovation to practical regulatory technologies. Attendees will connect through focused sessions on AI governance and cloud compliance in finance, featuring real-world applications and case studies. Additional presentations will highlight open-standard developments and security breakthroughs, including the SCION secure-internet architecture protecting Switzerland's financial sector.
