OpenWallet Foundation:
OpenWallet has launched a strategic partnership with the UN featuring two key initiatives. UNICC will host a complete mirror of all OpenWallet Foundation's git-based source code repositories, ensuring global accessibility to the software. This collaboration will also facilitate the upstream channeling of software contributions from UNICC partners and affiliates to OpenWallet Foundation's repositories. Additionally, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Linux Foundation have announced plans to establish the OpenWallet Forum. This forum aims to foster multi-stakeholder collaboration and dialogue on interoperable digital wallets. Hosted by the Linux Foundation and ITU, the OpenWallet Forum will provide a platform for governments to engage with standards bodies and companies involved in digital wallet development. We are excited about this groundbreaking partnership between the world’s leading developer community and the foremost global convener of the public sector.
In other news, NTT Digital has joined OpenWallet as a General Member.
RISE:
RISE celebrated its first anniversary on May 31st! Over the past year, we've made remarkable strides in advancing the RISC-V software ecosystem. This includes managing 8 ongoing RFP projects and fostering collaboration among 9 working groups focused on upstream contributions and open-source development. Additionally, we've published a comprehensive RISC-V Software Optimization Guide, which will be featured in a talk at the upcoming RISC-V Summit EU and continues to undergo improvements. RISE maintains a close partnership with RISC-V International, and we take pride in our collaborative efforts.
As we enter our second year, we eagerly anticipate keynoting at RISC-V Summit Europe and participating in various RISC-V events worldwide, leading up to the RISC-V Summit North America in October. If your company wishes to join our 23 RISE members in enhancing this ecosystem, please reach out via our website or meet with us at an upcoming event.
Servo:
June kicked off with Servo contributors and team members participating in the Web Engines Hackfest in Galicia, Spain, where Servo hosted a breakout session. Throughout the month, we made significant strides in layout, fonts, Android compatibility, and support for OpenHarmony builds.
Highlights included:
- Implementing display tabs and processes in Devtools
- Adding InlineFormattingContextBuilder
- Enhancing line-breaking capabilities for the entire Inline Formatting Context (IFC)
- Introducing support for rendering keycap emoji clusters
- Integrating OpenHarmony support into mach and CI workflows
- Resolving Android build issues for Fedora 40
This month is particularly noteworthy as we welcomed our first Outreachy intern, who has begun contributing to the restoration of DevTools functionality.
