Linux Foundation Europe continues to grow to serve the needs of the European open source community. Building up communications and marketing capabilities is a key part of that, which is why we are thrilled to add yet another fantastic member to our team: Federica Nocerino, our new Communications and Marketing Manager.
As we enter the second quarter of the year, welcoming Federica onboard adds to the momentum of growth and innovation that defines our organisation's journey.
We recently had the opportunity to sit down with Federica to learn more about her background and her vision for the role of Communications and Marketing Manager.
Here are some highlights from our conversation:
Federica, what motivated you to join our team as the Communications and Marketing Manager?
The opportunity to join the Linux Foundation Europe to manage communication and marketing sounded very stimulating.
Europe is experiencing a vibrant explosion of open source activities, and the Linux Foundation’s dedication to cultivating this innovative ecosystem, while respecting the legal and cultural nuances of each European jurisdiction, is truly inspiring. The chance to be directly involved in this growth and propel open source's role in driving European technological advancements, all within the framework of a global strategy, is incredibly motivating.
Could you outline some of the key responsibilities you'll be assuming in this position?
As the Communications and Marketing Manager, my mission is to empower the incredible developers and projects hosted by the Linux Foundation Europe and propel them to the forefront of the open source landscape. To achieve this, I'll be diving head first into several exciting areas: strategy, digital, branding and community events, doing my best to connect projects and communities: that’s where the real magic happens!
Can you share any exciting projects or initiatives you're looking forward to working on in the coming months?
There's a lot to be excited about at the Linux Foundation, from incredible projects to events and training. One event I'm particularly interested in is the Open Source Summit Europe. This year, the summit promises to delve into some of the most important topics in AI, including the intersection of AI and data, and the crucial role of Open Source Program Offices (OSPOs) in navigating today's complex regulatory landscape.
What aspects of open source culture resonate with you the most, and how do you plan to incorporate these values into your work?
The open source community thrives on collaboration and inclusivity, and that's what excites me most. I will be working alongside developers to elevate their voices and projects through compelling content, engaging events, and accessible resources. I'm here to empower the community and work together towards their goals.
Any fun facts about yourself?
Outside of work, I'm either playing video games, unleashing my creativity with art and design, or diving headfirst into some random new topic, fueled by adorable animal memes. Lately I’ve been into animal documentaries: did you know that penguins gift each other pebbles to declare their love? It's like the penguin equivalent of a box of chocolates! 🐧
Any final thoughts or messages you'd like to share with our community as you start this new journey with us?
To everyone I've met so far, thank you for the warm welcome! I can't wait to connect in person while supporting the open source community.
I'm eager to learn from each of you and contribute to something truly special. The future of open source is bright, and I'm thrilled to be a part of this journey with you.
